Printer controller software
Brightsight has evaluated the controller software that is used in a number of multi-copier devices. In the last few years, the humble photocopier has become a sophisticate piece of equipment, offering network connectivity. This has enabled modern centralised copier, printer and scanner functionality to be implemented in corporate environments, but brings new threats as a consequence. Unauthorised access to print jobs, the shredding of data residuals and the protection of management functionality formed part of the Common Criteria evaluations that were performed by us.

'Voice over IP' technology
Brightsight continues to participate actively in the evaluation of the Common Criteria methodology. As part of the trial of the latest CC standard, we participated in a trial of 'Low Assurance' evaluations. These provide an easy way for developers to enter the CC world. The 'VoIP' solution of a major world player was evaluated, resulting in the first CC certificate to be issued in this form.

Fighter jet software
Brightsight has, on behalf of three European national air forces, successfully evaluated a military product that allows pilots to fly and train together via an RF link and to perform a post mission debriefing. The evaluation centered on determining that classified information did not 'leak' out of the operational flying domain. As a result of these three successful Common Criteria evaluations, more air forces outside Europe are now expressing interest in flying and training together using this product.
