Brightsight, a global leader in security evaluations, announced today its official accreditation as an EUCC third-party IT Security Evaluation Facility (EUCC ITSEF). All European laboratories of Brightsight (those are located in Delft, Barcelona, Madrid, Graz and Meyreuil) are accredited to perform assurance level high evaluations, which is the highest possible accreditation level for the products with categories: smartcard and similar devices, hardware devices with security boxes, and generic software and network.

This significant milestone allows Brightsight to start offering the new EUCC evaluation required for all the ITSEF within the EU. The five Brightsight laboratories are now in the position of executing the EUCC assessments and connecting with the existing base of 50+ other accreditations. This extensive position makes Brightsight the best option when it comes to connecting cybersecurity regulations in Europe, the USA, and Asia in one go.

Sergio Casanova, CTO of Brightsight, states: “Achieving EUCC accreditation was a mandatory step for ITSEF, and we approached it with the same rigor and commitment we apply to all aspects of our work. This accomplishment represents our collective dedication, discipline and teamwork which defines us as ITSEF”.

Brightsight’s expanded capabilities will benefit a wide range of industries, including finance, government, telecommunications, and IoT, where EUCC certification is often a critical requirement for market access and demonstrating security trustworthiness. Many governments and industries worldwide mandate or prefer EUCC-certified products, especially for sensitive applications. This includes sectors such as defense, finance and critical infrastructure.

Why this matter
The Common Criteria is an internationally recognized standard used by governments and industries worldwide to assess the security capabilities of IT products. But the lack of harmonization results in high costs for enterprises. That’s why  the cybersecurity certificates will be recognized across the EU in a harmonized way. This way developers and service providers will only need a single certification to address a market of 500 million EU citizens which helps to quickly enter the EU market.
