Brightsight has achieved ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation from the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) for CRA Module B, marking a major milestone in the company's journey toward becoming a designated Notified Body under the European Union's Cyber Resilience Act.
The achievement represents a significant step forward for Brightsight as the company prepares to play an active role in the new CRA conformity assessment landscape. The Cyber Resilience Act is set to introduce mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements placed on the EU market. As the regulation is progressively implemented, manufacturers will need to demonstrate that their products meet the applicable cybersecurity requirements throughout their lifecycle.
For products requiring a third-party conformity assessment, the availability of qualified and designated Notified Bodies will become an increasingly important part of the new regulatory landscape.

CRA Notified Body designation
Module B, or EU Type Examination, is one of the conformity assessment procedures established under the CRA for products that require third-party involvement. It focuses on assessing whether a product meets the applicable requirements of the regulation through an independent evaluation process.
With this milestone now achieved, Brightsight is moving forward to the next stage of its accreditation journey: completing a pilot project. The pilot will allow Brightsight's Module B conformity assessment process to be applied and demonstrated in practice. Once successfully completed, it will mark the next important step in Brightsight's progress towards CRA Notified Body designation. At the same time, Brightsight continues to progress through the accreditation activities to become a CRA Notified Body for Module H.
What does this mean for manufacturers?
