Brightsight evaluates Topwise T6, the first payment terminal using the MediaTek MT8786P system-on-chip to achieve PCI PTS POI v7 approval

14.08.2026 11:29 AM
Brightsight’s security evaluation laboratory in Guangzhou, China, has completed the security evaluation of the Topwise T6 smart payment terminal, which has successfully achieved PCI PTS POI v7 approval from the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC).

The Topwise T6 is the first payment terminal using MediaTek’s new MT8786P system-on-chip (SoC) to achieve PCI PTS POI v7 approval, marking an important milestone for the payment terminal industry as it adapts to the latest security and cryptographic requirements of the standard.

Supporting the next generation of secure payment terminals

The latest PCI PTS POI v7 standard introduces upgraded requirements for key management and cryptographic strength, driving payment device manufacturers and technology providers to adopt increasingly robust security architectures.

MediaTek developed the MT8786P SoC to support the evolving requirements of the smart payment terminal industry. Topwise, a global supplier of smart payment terminals, was among the first to adopt the new chipset in its T6 payment device.

Brightsight’s laboratory in Guangzhou, China, conducted the security evaluation of the terminal, demonstrating compliance with the requirements of PCI PTS POI v7. Following the successful evaluation, the Topwise T6 received its official PCI PTS v7 approval from PCI SSC and is listed on the PCI SSC website under approval number  4-160007.

A collaborative achievement across the payment ecosystem

This achievement demonstrates the value of collaboration between technology providers, payment terminal manufacturers and independent security evaluation laboratories.

By bringing together MediaTek’s new MT8786P SoC, Topwise’s T6 payment terminal and Brightsight’s PCI security evaluation expertise, the project contributes to the development of secure and compliant payment solutions for the global market.

For Brightsight, the evaluation represents another milestone in supporting the payment industry as it navigates evolving security standards and certification requirements.

The successful approval also highlights the importance of early collaboration across the payment technology ecosystem to help manufacturers bring secure, compliant and future-ready products to market.
