Brightsight evaluates Samsung’s U100 against Security Evaluation Standard for IoT Platforms (SESIP) Assurance Level 3 (SESIP3) requirements, based on Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) for Digital Key® SESIP profile for UWB modules, allowing it to become the first Ultra-Wideband (UWB) solution, integrated into mobile devices for car access, to receive a SESIP3 certificate.
We are pleased to announce that Brightsight has successfully completed the first-ever evaluation using the SESIP Profile for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) module, developed by the Car Connectivity Consortium as part of the digital key certification program, securing the industry's first SESIP3 certificate issued with this profile.
The SESIP profile for UWB addresses modules integrated into smart user devices, implementing the CCC specifications. The UWB module is intended to be used by a UWB developer such as a mobile integrator for car access. It calculates the distance to the paired vehicle, using this information to unlock the car and start the engine. An authorized test laboratory, such as Brightsight, needs to conduct an assessment to verify the vehicle remains protected against unauthorized access or engine start.
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. selected Brightsight to conduct an IoT security evaluation of its UWB solution, the U100, in accordance with the above SESIP requirements. Following our successful assessment, Samsung’s U100 has become the first UWB device within CCC to ever be awarded the SESIP3 certificate under this profile.
The certified product U100 is a single chip solution designed for full integration into smart mobile devices for smart car remote communication and access – as digital car key. As a chip with firmware and hardware components designed for mobile devices, it offers secure boot, secure firmware update, secure ranging and secure life cycle management with hardware cryptography. The product was formally certified by TrustCB, which issued the official certificate, available on the SESIP Certificates page. This recognition demonstrates that the product meets all requirements within a defined subset of this internationally recognized cybersecurity standard.
This success not only showcases Brightsight’s leadership by staying ahead of industry developments but also strengthens our reputation for technical excellence.

Bo Gyeong Kang, Master at System LSI IP Development Team at Samsung Electronics says: "Samsung's System LSI Business has received globally accredited SESIP Level 3 certification for its mobile-oriented Ultra-Wideband product (based on U100) for the first time in the industry, following Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) certification. This proves once again Samsung’s excellence in security technology. We will continue to strive to protect connectivity products from security threats and serve as a pioneer in the industry, enabling users to experience safe and secure connectivity."
About SESIP profile for UWB modules
We asked Xavi Castells, a fellow evaluator and SESIP expert at Brightsight, to explain what a SESIP profile for UWB security evaluation entails.

What is SESIP and why UWB profile matters
The SESIP methodology is exceptionally well‑suited for technologies like UWB, where security must be evaluated not in isolation but as part of a broader ecosystem. Its modular structure allows us to assess the UWB component independently while ensuring it integrates securely alongside other system modules. This makes SESIP a perfect match for complex, interconnected products. In the current European regulatory landscape, adopting SESIP also brings these technologies significantly closer to demonstrating conformity with the security expectations set by the Cyber Resilience Act, providing a clearer and more efficient path toward compliance.
