Delft, 27 September 2018: Brightsight is proud to announce that Datecs has been granted the world’s first Secure Card Reader – PIN (SCRP) approval, based on a Brightsight security evaluation report. Datecs obtained the approval for their BlueLite v3, a handheld SCRP with an integrated smart and contactless card reader. BlueLite v3 offers advanced security and payment processing capabilities to handle credit and debit card transactions in an attended environment. The PTS SCRP approval class was established for secure card readers that are intended to be used under the new PCI Software-Based PIN Entry on COTS (SPoC) program, which was recently introduced by the Payment Card Industry (PCI). The security requirements for SCRP have a strong focus on increased security of the critical assets in so-called SPoC-based transactions. SCRP is one of the enablers allowing PIN entry on the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) device. Brightsight congratulates Datecs on achieving this important milestone and is grateful to have been selected by Datecs as their security evaluation lab for payment-related products. Dirk-Jan Out, CEO at Brightsight, says: “After the release of the SCRP requirements earlier this year, we’ve worked closely with Datecs to get their product certified. Their ambition was to improve the security of the BlueLite reader such that it meets the security criteria of SCRP. This is the first SCRP approval issued, opening the door to the official introduction of SPoC solutions.” “We are very proud to be the first hardware vendor in the world able to certify SCRP device fully complaint with the latest PCI PTS SCRP requirements”, says Pencho Iliev, CEO at Datecs. “This achievement is a result of our ambition to be one of the most innovative companies developing mPOS solutions redefining users experience.” Brightsight, known for their knowledge and expertise, has over 35 years of experience in security evaluations of electronic payment devices as well as many other types of IT products.
