Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS)

Mobile networks are a critical infrastructure. They need to be robust and reliable. For this reason, it is important to verify mobile network equipment and make sure that adequate security is in place. However, doing so without harmonisation can drive global fragmentation of security requirements and conformance with them.

The Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) is a security assurance framework for the mobile industry. NESAS is globally used as a security baseline and includes common requirements for security evaluations of network equipment and an assessment of equipment vendors. NESAS provides the necessary tools for ensuring effective assurance testing.

The NESAS framework is a joint effort between 3GPP SA3 and GSMA, and also includes standard-based assessments for 5G security, which are part of the Security Assurance Specifications (SCAS).

The product evaluation is performed by security test laboratories accredited according to ISO 17025. SGS Brightsight is recognised for performing NESAS assessments. Reach out to us for learning more about NESAS and other relevant standards for 5G security via brs.5G@sgs.com
