Brightsight is participating in the three-year EU Horizon 2020 project Hector. The aim of HECTOR is to close the gap between algorithmic and hardware-level security, enabling more efficient hardware implementations, “security-by-design” demonstration, easier security certification and faster time-to-market. Several companies and universities in Europe cooperate in this project. The other partners in Hector are Technikon Forschungs- und Planungsgesellschaft mbH, Universit é Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne, KU Leuven, Thales, Micronic AS, Technische Universität Graz, STMicroelectronics Rousset SAS and STMicroelectronics S.R.L. The innovations developed within Hector will be used by the participating companies. One of the objectives of Hector is to develop True Random Number Generators with predicable entropy characteristics, which can be used in low-cost Integrated Circuits (IC) for example for Internet of Things (IoT) and automotive applications. Another objective is to develop lightweight crypto building blocks for secure IC’s. One of Brightsight’s objectives within this project is acquiring knowledge about this new lightweight crypto and on robust and unpredictable True Random Number Generators. Another objective for Brightsight is to keep close contact with universities and companies in industry. The added value of Brightsight to Hector is performing security assessments of the innovations developed in the project. Whenever Hector makes an improvement on for instance an IC building block, Brightsight evaluates the security implementation. Brightsight takes part in the project as an independent security lab. Brightsight’s part in this project is beneficial for their customers, because Brightsight stays up-to-date with the latest developments in the security industry. Brightsight is proud to be part of this innovative project and thankful for the good relationships built within Hector. Brightsight is the number one security lab in the world and is specialised in guiding new developers through security evaluations, as a result of years of experience. While working closely with the developer, Brightsight plans and confers on increasing security assurance and at the same time reducing time to market and costs.
