Delft, 08th of December 2016: Brightsight is proud to announce that the very first PCI PTS v5.0 approval worldwide has been issued on the basis of a Brightsight security evaluation report. The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council (SSC) was founded in 2006 by American Express, Discover, JCB International, MasterCard and Visa Inc. One of their security programs is the Payment Terminal Security (PTS) program, a well-established and internationally widely adopted standard for secure payment terminals. The participating payment brands of PCI SSC encourage the use of secure payment terminals with PCI PTS approval. Many local security schemes also adopt these requirements for their local acceptance programs. This makes the PCI PTS program more or less the leading industry standard in the world. Over the years the requirements evolve, leading to increased security demands. The latest version of the program - version 5.0 - was released in September 2016 and contains the most up-to-date security demands for future-proof risk management in the payments industry. Compared with earlier versions, a PCI PTS version 5.0 approval has more value due to the increased security demands of the program. The first PTS v5.0 approval was issued for the Ingenico latest retail POS. This terminal is one of Ingenico’s most recent developments built on the Telium TETRA security architecture, offering high security along with the latest technological advancements. Ingenico is the world leader in the market of secure payment solutions and a pioneer in offering new services for the rapidly evolving electronic payments domain. Brightsight is honoured to have been selected by Ingenico to conduct this evaluation that led to the first PTS v5.0 approval ever issued. Brightsight congratulate Ingenico on this important milestone. Dirk-Jan Out, CEO at Brightsight, says: “We are very proud to be at the basis of the first PCI PTS v5.0 approval. The quality of our services helped this approval to be issued this soon after the publication of the version 5.0 requirements. We feel honoured that Ingenico chose us to perform this PTS version 5.0 evaluation and are very happy with our enduring cooperation.” Ingenico and Brightsight have been working together for the past decade and are still extending their relationship, paving the way for many more challenging projects. The very first PCI PTS v4.0 approval worldwide, issued in 2013, was based on a Brightsight security evaluation report as well. Brightsight has over 30 years of experience in the security evaluation of electronic payment-related products as well as many other types of evaluations. Besides security evaluations, the company offers training courses, pre-evaluation services and site audits. Brightsight’s main objective is to avoid any delay in time to market while working as efficiently and transparently as possible.
